A field of “phenomenal landscape” emerges from randomly formed colors, lines, blurs, and overlaps. On top of it, a “projected landscape” is layered, in which human perception finds forms and meanings. The work depicts how the world is transformed and comes into being through the intervention of human perception.

Phenomenal Landscape

Colors, lines, and forms randomly placed on paper. A state prior to meaning, produced through chance or physical processes. A landscape in which no forms or interpretations have yet been recognized.

Projected Landscape

Forms and meanings perceived afterward through human interpretation of the phenomenal landscape. Through pareidolia, memory, emotion, and bias, perception projects images onto what is seen.

※“Phenomenal Landscape / Projected Landscape” are terms coined and used within the artist’s practice.
